In 1893 (Meiji 26) May, Gomyo Yoshihira and some other coworkers established Aich Clock Partnarship Company in Nagoya, after they merged Mizuno Clock Company, and began to produce clocks. They forced on export. After a lot of transitions, it became to be Aichi Clock Co. in 1925 (Taisho 14) and became to be Aichi Clock and Electric Co. in 1952 (Showa 27) finally, and it continues still now. This clock was made in the Showa Period (1926~1989), Aichi Clock and Electric Company made. Although the case is European type “Sliegel”,(about 60 cm long with 15 cm clock face of steel) the mechanism is mixed European with American, the new mechanism can be seen in it as explained below.
Although there were not much differences of the mechanism of clocks in the Meiji and Taisho Period, the change can be seen gradually in the Showa Period (1926~1989). Prominent is the mechanism that controls gong striking. Omitting the explanation in detail, because of the parts just like a sickle with saw teeth (A) and a comma-shaped (B), time and gong setting has been reasonably improved. In this era, electric clocks began to be made, so both traditional mechanical clocks and electric ones exist together. As shown below, the label on the back says such situation.
機械式にもかかわらず、「乾電池時計の場合は1年毎に電池を交換してください」の説明がある。
In spite of a mechanical clock, the explanation on the back says “Please change batteries once a year, if it is an electric clock”.
