ウエルチ社は、アメリカ、コネティカット州で生まれた時計メーカーです。当時のアメリカの8大時計メーカーの中では、1864年の創業と一番遅いのですが、製造を中止したのも1903年（明治36年）と最も早く、現存しているウエルチ社の柱時計はかなり古いことになります。
この時計は、8インチのペイント文字盤で、少し小ぶりの均整の取れた中型ドロップオクタゴンです。
きれいな木目を生かし、振り子室の扉の枠には金箔のラインが入ったきれいな仕上げになっています。
Welch Manufacturing Co. was established latest (1864) of the eight major clock companies in America at that time. And it quitted making clocks earliest (1903). Therefore, the Welch clocks that are extant are pretty old.
This is a medium size of the drop octagon clock with an 8 inch clock face that is painted.
Taking advantage of the beautiful wood grain, there is a gold leaf line around the door of the pendulum room, giving a very nice finish.

Another attractive part
The side and the bottom surfaces are used wood boards that are curved inside, giving a good finish.
It is very rare for these kinds of clocks.
かなり汚れているため、オーバーホールをすることにしました。
I decided to overhaul the machine, because it had years of dirt.
ガンギ車のバックプレートのほぞ穴が、少し変形していたため、修正しました。
I fixed the mortise of the escape wheel on the back plate, because it had been deformed.
